Mr Ebenezer Azidoku, the Afram Plains North District Agriculture Director has called on government to provide storage facilities for farmers who would benefit from government’s ‘planting for food and jobs’ programme.
Making the call through the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said the provision of those storage facilities such as the Improved Narrow Ventilated Crib, silos and grain dryers would enable farmers to produce on a large scale and improve their standard of living
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the chiefs and people of the Upper East Region of the government’s commitment to revamping the defunct tomato and meat factories in the area.
The President gave the assurance when the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Rockson Ayine Bukari, and the Vice-President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, Naba Baba Salifu Lemyaarum, jointly made the appeal to him during his two-day visit to the region to thank the people for endorsing him as the President of Ghana.
Stakeholders on the Northern Ghana Governance Activity (NGGA) project in the Bawku Municipality have met to streamline budget guidelines for agricultural development in the area.
This follows the fact that most of the assembly budget plans normally do not favour the development of agriculture in the Bawku area.
