The Ministry of Tourism last month took to a roadshow to mark the World Tourism Day, a global event aimed at fostering awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value.

The event held anually on September 27 also sought to address global challenges outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to highlight the contribution the tourism industry can make in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The first port of call was the Ofori Panin Fie where the team led by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr Ziblim Iddi, paid a courtesy call on the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II.

The delegation later led by the Minister of Tourism, Mrs Catherine A. Afeku, also paid a courtesy call to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Kintampo Waterfalls was the next stop where the entourage held a durbar with the chiefs and people as well as inspected the progress of rehabilitation works after the closure of the falls earlier in the year because of a disaster that claimed 20 lives.
